Together Can Be Streamed, and It Could Strengthen or Shatter Your Romantic Bond.

We present a test for those in enduring partnerships who are fans of scary movies: Get comfortable with your loved one and stream Together. The independent film success of 2025 just made its online premiere via Hulu. Outwardly, it may seem like standard physical horror, but inside Together resides a deep examination about how we choose to love each other.

A Debut Feature Delving into The Nuances of Love

Together is the introductory feature for director Michael Shanks. It stars the real-life married couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie as Tim and Millie, a pair who are not married that have been together for ten years. United in marriage in reality in 2017, Franco and Brie bring a particular energy to their roles, expertly portraying both the joys and frustrations of a long-term relationship.

The story starts when the couple move from the urban environment to the countryside for Millie’s job. A somewhat stereotypical story element, admittedly, but that’s mostly where the cliches end. Together transforms into as much a examination of mental states of the couple's dynamic as it is a movie featuring biological frights.

An Otherworldly Trigger

While hiking near their country house, a storm hits, and Millie and Tim fall into an subterranean cavern. After a night spent there and finally finding a way out, a supernatural entity begins influencing the pair. This force compels a supernatural closeness between them that goes exceeding typical partnership.

The complete narrative is a gradually intensifying horror experience, blending bits of hallucinatory nightmares, unsettling (but not excessively graphic) body horror, and surprisingly comedic interactions (sometimes in the middle of something disturbing). The director skillfully blends these components seamlessly and presents them in a consistently growing aura of dread.

Nuanced Portrayals

A significant portion of Together is only Brie and Franco, and they masterfully render countless layers to the dynamic between Tim and Millie. Millie's sense of self and emotional bond is waning due to a emotional and physical gap. Her unspoken irritation of Tim for his hesitance to focus on anything other than his floundering music career inexorably rises.

Tim, on the other hand experiences isolation and separated by Millie, who’s the reason they’ve moved to the country and removed from his network of friends. He fears the concept of utterly sacrificing his personal autonomy in Millie. This fear is amplified by the circumstance he does not operate a vehicle and needs Millie for transportation.

The film's most intelligent aspect is that he refrains from painting Tim or Millie the clear bad guy.

Tim and Millie confront the type of challenges that come with long-term unions a decade in. At their core, they continue to care for each other. They still laugh together, provide solace, and share intimately at times. But below this facade, there’s an unavoidable current of uncertainty about their relationship.

Thematic Depth

While the paranormal elements in Together symbolize these fears of unhealthy attachment and giving oneself over to a partner, the metaphor avoids being hamfisted or heavy-handed. Instead, these ickier, creepier moments offer a brilliant analogue to the interpersonal storytelling. Both the frights and the fights enhance each other symbiotically.

A Debated Finale

Together’s final act, which remains unspoiled, has created disagreement on the story's concluding statement about enmeshed dynamics. It has been said that single viewers have interpreted the film as a compelling reason for remaining unattached. Conversely, some couples having disagreements found that the film actually helped them reconcile.

Regardless of your relationship status, your own interpretation could act as a telling indicator of how you view relationships. Will the finale sow a sense of discomfort and fear, or a positive outlook on love? Will you see yourself in Tim or Millie and feel frustration, or simply glance toward your partner and say, “I’d do that for you”?

Whatever the case may be, Together is an experiment you can experience today.

Together is available to watch on Hulu's platform as of this moment.
