A 60-day journey circling the Australian Coast has been cancelled following the tragic passing of an elderly female passenger who was stranded by the ship on a remote island.

The elderly woman had been hiking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the vessel, but separated from the party for a break. The vessel left without her and came back later that day after the ship staff realised the lady was unaccounted for.

An extensive hunt located her remains the following day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the event, in coordination with police and the state coroner.

Chief Executive of the voyage organizer said that guests and personnel on the Coral Adventurer were told that the rest of the journey had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and earlier technical problems".

In a statement, he further stated that guests would be issued a total repayment, and said the organization was working "to coordinate the travel back of the passengers via specially arranged planes".

Regulatory bodies also released an revised statement, and said they had "delivered a order to the Master" preventing any additional guests from getting on the liner.

The representative said that they would visit the liner in the port city upon its return.

Chronology of Occurrences

The ship initially left the coastal city on the 24th of October, and was merely two days into the voyage at the point of the elderly woman's death. Lizard Island was the opening port on the voyage.

Passengers on the vessel - who generally pay tens of thousands of dollars to join the cruise - were transported there for a shore visit with the choice of hiking or underwater exploration.

The child of the deceased woman said that her loved ones was "surprised and grieved that the liner left Lizard Island after an scheduled excursion without my mother".

Via her announcement, she characterized her parent as an "energetic octogenarian" who was a member of a walking group.

"Based on limited facts we have been told, it appears that there was a lapse of care and basic judgment," she said.

She added that she hoped the inquiry would be able to identify what "the operator should have undertaken that might have preserved Mum's life".

"We understand from the police that it was a exceptionally warm day, and she fell ill on the hill climb," she revealed.

"They requested her to head down, without accompaniment. Then the boat sailed away, seemingly without conducting a passenger count.

"During some point in that sequence, or shortly after, mum died, by herself."

In a statement, the Head affirmed that the company was "cooperating fully with investigators to support their inquiry".

He mentioned that the organization was "very regretful that this has transpired" and had extended its complete assistance to the loved ones.

The liner accommodates up to one hundred twenty guests with nearly fifty staff, according to corporate information. It was specifically designed to enter distant regions of the Australian coastline and is fitted with "tenders" - compact vessels used to ferry passengers on day excursions.
